South Africa has a small fibre manufacturing industry, consisting of only a handful of local operators, including Weinert Industries (formerly CBI), Yangtze Optics Africa (YOA), and Dartcom Fibre Solutions. The Yangtze Optics Africa (YOA) Cable fibre-optic cable manufacturing facility in Durban's Dube TradePort special economic zone has the capacity to produce 8 000km of cable for the local telecommunications industry per month.
